Sikkim and Kolkata runners set record for "fastest to cover Srinagar to Khardung La on foot"

A team of four runners has etched their names in the India Book of Records by setting the record for the “Fastest to Cover Srinagar to Khardung La on Foot.” The team, comprising Anup Bania, Basant Pradhan, Bhupen Hang Subba from Sikkim, and Luv Burman from Kolkata, completed the remarkable feat in just 8 days, from September 15 to 22, 2024.

The runners covered a total distance of 462 kilometers, navigating challenging terrains and passing through significant landmarks like Sonamarg, Kargil War Memorial, Pashkum, Budhkharbu, Khalsi, Basgo, and Leh, before finally reaching Khardung La, which sits at an altitude of over 17,000 feet. This demanding journey, which pushed their physical endurance to the limit, was confirmed as a record by the India Book of Records on January 18, 2025.
