Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang said that the state government is committed to this cause and further added that their recognition is not only a constitutional right but also crucial for preserving their unique cultural identity and heritage.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister engaged with representatives from the 12 communities and acknowledged their long-standing struggles for recognition. He highlighted the significance of this step in ensuring socio-economic justice for the affected groups and called upon all stakeholders to maintain momentum in addressing the queries raised by the Government of India.

Tamang also praised the efforts of the SSHLC, community leaders, and experts working diligently to compile a comprehensive document that justifies their demand. "Together, with dedication and perseverance, we can overcome challenges and fulfill this long-pending demand. I assure my personal commitment to this cause and pledge the full support of the Government of Sikkim," he said.
