Ankita Diyali, a bright student from Modern Senior Secondary School and the Class XII Humanities stream topper from the 23-Shyari Constituency, has received a cash reward of Rs 30,000 under the Chief Minister’s Mentorship Winter Coaching Programme. The prize was personally committed by area MLA and Advisor to the Forest and Environment Department, Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, to recognise academic excellence in board examinations.
Ankita has also adopted a Blue Sheep under the ‘My Child From Wild’ initiative at the Himalayan Zoological Park (HZP), contributing Rs 10,000 towards its care. Her adoption reflects a deep sense of commitment to wildlife conservation and ecological awareness.
Ankita said that her visit to Sikkim’s only zoo felt like a live classroom, offering a rare opportunity to understand animal behaviour, habitat, and the importance of preserving biodiversity. “Everyone should visit the zoo to appreciate the vital role these animals play in our ecosystem,” she said.
Known for her love of reading, poetry, and puzzles, Miss Diyali’s academic achievements and her enthusiasm for conservation make her a role model for the youth of Sikkim.
