Darjeeling MP Raju Bista has strongly criticized the West Bengal government following a shocking incident at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where stray dogs reportedly tore apart a dead body left unattended inside the hospital premises. The incident, which has sparked outrage across North Bengal, raises serious concerns about the condition of healthcare and hospital management under the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government.
In a press release issued on Thursday, Bista described the situation as “pathetic” and blamed the ruling state government, especially Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, for the decline in public healthcare infrastructure and services. He questioned how such an incident could take place in a government hospital and asked why the body was left alone without supervision.
"Stray dogs tore apart the leg from a dead body, and ran away. Why was this allowed to happen? Where are the guards, and why was a dead body left unattended?" Bista wrote in his statement. He went on to say, “There is no dignity for the living, and now, no dignity even for the dead under the TMC-led administration in North Bengal.”
Raju Bista, who is also the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), did not hold back in his criticism of Mamata Banerjee. He called her the “most incompetent Chief Minister and Health Minister the state has ever seen.” He added, “Shame on her.”
