Students of Soreng Government College, B.Ed. College, came together on Thursday to carry out a plantation drive on the college campus, aiming to spread awareness about environmental protection and sustainable living. The event was led by the students of the Environmental Studies (EVS) department and actively joined by the outgoing batch of the college.
The plantation drive took place within the college premises and saw participation from faculty members of the EVS department as well as teachers from other departments. Their presence and encouragement added to the significance of the initiative, creating a positive and collaborative environment among students and staff.
For the graduating students, the plantation drive was not just a routine activity—it was a special gesture. Planting saplings on the campus they had called home for the past two years was their way of leaving behind a green legacy. It was a heartfelt act of gratitude and a meaningful farewell, reminding everyone that caring for the environment is a responsibility that continues beyond the classroom.
The saplings used in the drive were generously supplied by the Soreng Forest Department. The students expressed deep thanks to the department for their support. The college administration was also appreciated for facilitating the event and encouraging students to participate in such eco-friendly actions.
