Sarathi 1.0 training program concludes in Soreng, empowers students for a healthier Sikkim

The training aimed to enhance awareness about addiction prevention and mental well-being, equipping students with vital skills to promote a healthier future.

The second batch of students under the Sarathi 1.0 training program in Soreng District concluded on January 13, 2025, marking a significant step toward Sikkim’s vision of becoming "Addiction Free" and "Mentally Healthy." The initiative, aligned with the vision of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), was guided by Shri Aditya Golay, MLA for Soreng Chakung Constituency, and Shri Rohit Raj Gurung, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chief Resource Person of the Sarathi Organization.

The program saw the active participation of 28 students, including 2 boys and 2 girls, from several Senior Secondary Schools across Soreng District. The participating schools included K.B. Limboo Senior Secondary School, Sribadam; Government Senior Secondary School, Kamling; SLKDG Senior Secondary School, Mangalbaria; Government Senior Secondary School, Khanisirbung; Government Senior Secondary School, Chakung; Government Model Senior Secondary School, Chota Samdung; and Government Senior Secondary School, Gelling.

The training aimed to enhance awareness about addiction prevention and mental well-being, equipping students with vital skills to promote a healthier future. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Shri Gayas Pega, ADC Development for Soreng, Mrs. Rajni Pega, DPO (Disaster Management Soreng), Mr. Govind Pradhan, AD Education Department (Soreng District), and Mrs. Lata Bardewa, SHO Soreng.

On the final day, Mrs. Rajni Pega conducted a session on Disaster Risk Reduction, adding value to the training. The students actively participated in various roles during the event, with Miss Sumina Gurung and Master Prayas Tamang serving as Masters of Ceremony. The day featured vibrant cultural performances, including a welcome dance, song, and skit presentations, all reflecting the students’ dedication to the cause.

The students also shared their experiences from the training, with Miss Celestina Manger and Miss Ashmita Manger reflecting on their learnings from Day 1 and Day 2, respectively. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Miss Kunsangmit Lepcha from Government Senior Secondary School Chakung.
