On the occasion of Maghey Sankranti, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang expressed his honor in joining Governor Om Prakash Mathur in offering prayers at the revered Trikaleshwar Mandir in Jorethang. The sacred ceremony marked the beginning of a day filled with cultural celebrations and developmental initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “It was an honor and a privilege to join the Hon’ble Governor, Om Prakash Mathur Ji, in offering prayers at the sacred Trikaleshwar Mandir. Following the prayers, I had the pleasure of accompanying the Hon’ble Governor to inaugurate the much-anticipated Saras Mela and Rozgar Mela.”
The Saras Mela, a vibrant showcase of local artisanship and traditional crafts, and the Rozgar Mela, focusing on employment opportunities, drew enthusiastic participation from the community. “It was truly heartening to witness the enthusiastic participation of the local community and the celebration of our shared traditions and aspirations,” the Chief Minister added.
The events highlighted the state’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage while fostering socio-economic development. The Rozgar Mela, in particular, underscored the government’s dedication to empowering the youth by creating avenues for employment.
The Chief Minister commended the efforts of all involved in organizing the melas, emphasizing their role in uniting the community and driving progress. “Such initiatives reflect the strength of our shared traditions and the collective aspirations of our people. Together, we are building a prosperous and inclusive Sikkim,” he said.
