Samson Tamang alleges opposition leader’s role in hate speech after arrest

Samson Tamang, accused of making hate comments against the Khas community, was brought back to Sikkim after being arrested in Bodhgaya, Bihar, on February 19, 2025. Following his arrest, Tamang alleged the involvement of an opposition leader in his actions, bringing new complexities to the ongoing investigation.
The arrest marked the culmination of a 13-day intensive manhunt led by Sikkim Police in collaboration with Bihar Police. The operation, spearheaded by SDPO Tashi Chopel Bhutia, saw critical contributions from Investigating Officer PI DP Limboo, PI Naresh Chhetri, SI Taman R. Gurung, and other personnel. Utilizing advanced technical surveillance and intelligence, the team tracked Tamang’s movements across multiple locations, including Siliguri, North Bengal, the Nepal border, Delhi, Kurseong, and Darjeeling. High-alert searches were also conducted in Naxalbari, the Terai region, Pani Tanki, and Salugara before locating him in Bodhgaya.
Tamang’s arrest has been hailed as a significant achievement for Sikkim Police, highlighting their perseverance and effective collaboration with Bihar authorities.
