Pakyong Police arrested two individuals with a significant quantity of contraband substances under the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA), following a well-coordinated intelligence operation.
On July 7, 2025, acting on credible inputs, the police team intercepted an Alto car near the Petrol Pump at Setipool in Pakyong District. The vehicle was occupied by Kinga Tshering Bhutia, 49, a resident of Setipool, and Saran Diyali, 30, from Veer Cutting, Lower Samdur. Upon checking the car and subsequent house searches, the police recovered a substantial quantity of blue-coloured capsules, suspected to be banned psychotropic substances.
According to Pakyong Police, both individuals have a history of drug-related offences. They were earlier booked in similar cases at Rangpo and Ranipool Police Stations and had been under the police scanner for quite some time. “They were being closely monitored due to their repeated involvement in narcotics-related activities,” said an officer from Pakyong PS.
A formal case has been registered under SADA, and further investigations are underway to trace the source and network involved in the supply of these drugs.
