Rekha Gupta sworn in as Delhi CM, BJP returns to power after 26 years

Six cabinet ministers were sworn in alongside Gupta: Parvesh Verma (New Delhi), Manjinder Singh Sirsa (Rajouri Garden), Ravindra Kumar Indraj (Bawana), Kapil Mishra (Karawal Nagar), Ashish Sood (Janakpuri), and Pankaj Kumar Singh (Vikaspuri). Rekha Gupta took the oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister today in a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, marking the BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 26 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several senior BJP leaders were in attendance. Gupta becomes the fourth female Chief Minister of Delhi and the only woman currently leading a BJP-ruled state.

Gupta, a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, expressed her gratitude to the BJP high command, stating her primary focus would be fulfilling the party’s election promises. One of the key pledges is a Rs 2,500 monthly financial aid for women, which Gupta confirmed would be rolled out by March 8, International Women’s Day.
