The vibrant spirit of Sikkim’s culture and entrepreneurship is set to take centre stage as the much-awaited Rankey Mela gears up to be held at Namchi Bazaar on July 16 and 17, 2025. The two-day fair is expected to attract visitors from across the district and beyond, with a wide variety of traditional food, handicrafts, and indigenous products on display.

In a key pre-event initiative, Satish Chandra Rai, Area MLA distributed coupons for the stalls through a lucky draw. The distribution ceremony was held at the SKM Party Office in Namchi, where aspiring entrepreneurs gathered in anticipation and excitement. The process, which was conducted in a fair and transparent manner, allotted stall spaces to successful applicants, ensuring a broad representation of local talent and innovation.

“This Mela is not just about celebration, but also about encouraging our local entrepreneurs and preserving our cultural roots,” said MLA Rai, while interacting with the participants. He also expressed his hope that the event would serve as a meaningful platform for small businesses and traditional artisans to gain visibility and grow their reach.

Organised annually, the Rankey Mela has become a hallmark event for Namchi, blending festive cheer with economic opportunity. With traditional foods, handmade items, and cultural displays lined up, the event is poised to offer a delightful experience for both locals and tourists.
