Rajya Sabha subordinate legislation committee begins official visit to Sikkim
The committee's visit is aimed at holding discussions with key stakeholders from various sectors and reviewing the implementation of subordinate legislation in the state.

A high-level delegation of the Parliamentary Committee on Subordinate Legislation of the Rajya Sabha, led by Member of Parliament Milind Deora, arrived in Gangtok on April 20, marking the beginning of a six-day official visit to Sikkim from April 20 to April 26, 2025.
The committee's visit is aimed at holding discussions with key stakeholders from various sectors and reviewing the implementation of subordinate legislation in the state. The delegation is scheduled to engage with representatives from the Power and Energy Department, local banking institutions, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sikkim Renewable Energy Development Agency (SREDA), and senior officials from the Government of Sikkim.
Upon their arrival, the dignitaries received a warm and traditional welcome by top officials, including Satyandra Kr Singh, Chief General Manager of the State Bank of India (West Bengal), and Virendra Singh, Deputy General Manager of SBI Siliguri Branch. Representatives from the State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC), Lead Bank, State Bank of India, and officials from various government departments were also present to receive the delegation.
In addition to official engagements, the itinerary also includes visits to sites of cultural and strategic importance in North Sikkim, including Gurudongmar Lake, Chungthang, Lachung, and Lachen. These visits aim to offer the committee deeper insight into the socio-economic and environmental landscape of the region.
