Rajya Puruskar Award ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Gangtok

The Rajya Puruskar Award Ceremony was held Raj Bhavan in Gangtok to honour outstanding Scouts and Guides from across Sikkim. The prestigious event was graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, who attended the function as the Chief Guest and felicitated the young achievers.

The award ceremony, organized under the Bharat Scouts and Guides program, recognised the efforts of students from various schools who have shown remarkable commitment, discipline, and a spirit of service. A total of 24 students—20 Guides and 4 Scouts—received the Rajya Puruskar Award from the Governor. These awards represent one of the highest state-level honours in the Scouts and Guides movement.

In his speech, the Governor warmly congratulated the awardees and all those present. He praised the Scouts and Guides for their sincere work and said that their actions reflect the strong values that form the backbone of Indian society—patriotism, discipline, and service to others. “This is not just an award ceremony; it is a celebration of the spirit of selfless service and national pride,” he said.

Governor Mathur said that receiving the Rajya Puruskar Award should not be seen as the end of a journey, but as the beginning of a new chapter. He encouraged the students to continue aiming higher, especially towards achieving the President’s Award, which is the highest recognition in the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement.

“The children here today are not just the future of India, they are the strength and hope of our country,” the Governor said. He also highlighted the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a Viksit Bharat @2047—a fully developed India by the centenary of independence. He stated that youth-led movements like the Bharat Scouts and Guides are the true symbols of this vision, and their efforts will help turn it into a reality.
