Member of Parliament from Darjeeling and BJP National Spokesperson, Raju Bista along with the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang visited the residence of former Minister of State for Minority Affairs, John Barla in Jalpaiguri.
The visit came in the wake of the passing of Barla’s wife, Mahima Barla, who had been suffering from a long and serious illness. Despite her prolonged health challenges, Mahima ji was remembered as a strong and kind-hearted woman who remained positive and cheerful throughout her struggle. Her strength and spirit deeply touched all those who knew her.
During their visit, Raju Bista and CM P.S. Golay attended a special prayer session held in memory of the departed soul. They joined the family and friends in praying for her peace and eternal rest. Speaking about the late Mahima ji, Raju Bista said, “She was a kind soul with the strongest of resolve. Even while battling illness for many years, she always remained hopeful and smiling. Her presence brought warmth to everyone around her.”
They were joined by Alipurduars MP Manoj Tigga, several MLAs from the region, and other local leaders who also came to express their grief and offer moral support to the bereaved family.
“This is a time of deep sorrow for John Barla ji and his family. We want them to know that they are not alone. We all stand with them as one family,” said Bista. “Our prayers are with them, and we hope they find strength in these difficult times.”
