Raj Bhavan Sikkim celebrates Rajasthan Statehood Day with fervor

Raj Bhavan Sikkim commemorated Rajasthan Statehood Day with great enthusiasm at Ashirvad Bhavan, in the presence of Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur. The event witnessed a vibrant gathering, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan while reinforcing the bonds of unity between Rajasthanis and Sikkim.
In his address, Governor Mathur extended his heartfelt greetings and urged the Rajasthani community in Sikkim to honor both their matribhumi (motherland) and karmbhumi (land of work). He lauded their resilience, recalling how Rajasthani settlers overcame challenges and seamlessly integrated with Sikkim’s culture over the past century. “I am proud of you all for settling here despite hardships, and for earning the trust and respect of the local population,” he stated.
Looking ahead to Sikkim’s 50th Statehood Anniversary in May 2025, the Governor encouraged the Rajasthani community to take up significant projects showcasing their contributions to the state’s development. With the Hon’ble Prime Minister scheduled to visit for the celebrations, he emphasized the importance of highlighting their role in Sikkim’s progress.
The event began with a welcome address by Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shri Jitendra Singh Raje, who underscored the initiative of celebrating Statehood Days at Raj Bhavans across India under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat vision. He noted that such celebrations foster unity and cultural exchange among states.

Prominent Marwari community member, Shri Sarda, spoke on the deep-rooted history of Rajasthanis in Sikkim, tracing their presence back to the erstwhile kingdom era. His address reflected on the contributions of the Marwari community in business, trade, and social development.
The event featured lively cultural performances, including traditional Rajasthani folk showcases by the Marwari community of Sikkim. Musical renditions by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) added patriotic fervor to the celebrations.
With a blend of tradition and unity, Rajasthan Statehood Day celebrations at Raj Bhavan Sikkim reinforced the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, strengthening the cultural ties between Rajasthan and Sikkim.
