A protest broke out near the Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal, following the deadly terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. The attack claimed the lives of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national, sparking widespread anger and grief among people in both India and Nepal.
Dozens of protestors gathered outside the Pakistan Embassy carrying banners and raising slogans against the terror activities. They condemned the attack and demanded justice for the innocent lives lost. Many protestors urged the Nepal government to take strong action, similar to the steps India has taken against Pakistan after the incident.
One of the protestors said, "India is taking action on its part. We want our Nepal government to take similar action against terrorism. We cannot tolerate such attacks that kill innocent people, including our own citizens."
The protestors expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Nepali tourist who was among the victims in Pahalgam. They accused Pakistan-based groups of supporting terrorism and called for strict measures to ensure such attacks are not repeated in the future.
Following the Pahalgam attack, India has taken several strong steps against Pakistan. These include the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and other diplomatic measures. The Indian government has vowed to take all necessary actions to punish those responsible for the attack and to protect its citizens from future threats.
The protestors in Kathmandu demanded that the Nepal government should not remain silent. They insisted that Nepal should also review its diplomatic ties with Pakistan and adopt a tough stand against terror groups operating from its soil or with support from across the border.
The mood among the people was emotional, and many expressed solidarity with the families of the victims. Candles were lit in memory of those who lost their lives, and prayers were held for the departed souls.
Security was tight in the area during the protest. Nepalese police personnel were deployed to maintain order and prevent any untoward incident. However, the protest remained peaceful, and no major clashes were reported.
