Minister Ven. Sonam Lama, accompanied by Hon’ble Area MLA Shri Samdup Tshering Bhutia and senior officials, today conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing construction work of the main building of Rakdong Gumpa at Rakdong. The inspection aimed to assess the progress and ensure the timely completion of the significant religious and cultural project.
The inspection team also included OSDs Shri Acharya Ringing Chopel Lepcha and Shri Keshab Nepal, Ecclesiastical Secretary Smt. Kunchok Doma Lepcha, Senior Gendrungla Shri Tshering Thendup Bhutia, BDO, and other key officials. During the visit, the dignitaries carefully reviewed the construction progress, taking note of the work completed and areas that require attention.
Minister Ven. Sonam Lama expressed satisfaction over the pace and quality of the construction, emphasizing the government’s commitment to strengthening religious and cultural infrastructure in the region. The visit also featured the formal handover of the government grant for the construction of the monastery’s main building, a key milestone expected to accelerate the completion of the project.
The Rakdong Gumpa, once completed, is anticipated to serve as a significant center for spiritual activities, community gatherings, and cultural preservation.
