Prime Minister Narendra Modi today presented India’s position at the Shanghai Cooperation Council (SCO) Members Session in Tianjin. His address focused on three key areas: security, connectivity, and shared opportunities among member nations.

During his speech, PM Modi spoke about the urgent need for strong measures to fight terrorism and extremism. He highlighted that countries must work together to prevent terrorist activities and ensure peace and stability in the region. The Prime Minister also underlined India’s commitment to supporting multilateral efforts in combating terrorism, in line with United Nations resolutions.

Infrastructure development and trade were another major focus of his address. PM Modi spoke about the importance of improving connectivity between nations through transport and digital projects. He said such projects not only enhance trade but also create opportunities for economic growth and cooperation. The Prime Minister further stressed the value of cultural exchanges and the promotion of digital and sustainable linkages among SCO countries.

On economic matters, PM Modi highlighted shared growth through innovation, technology transfer, and inclusive development. He called for collaboration to ensure that all member nations benefit from new technologies and economic opportunities.

The Tianjin Declaration, adopted by the SCO Heads of State, strongly condemns terrorism in all forms. It specifically condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, signaling that sponsored terrorism will not be tolerated in the region. The declaration calls on the international community to combat terrorism with the central role of the United Nations and full adherence to international law.

India’s proactive role in regional cooperation and multilateral diplomacy was evident throughout the summit. PM Modi’s address showcased the country’s commitment to peace, stability, and development at a time of global uncertainty.

According to Raju Bista, Member of Parliament from Darjeeling and BJP National Spokesperson, “India under PM Modi’s leadership continues to lead from the front, promoting peace and cooperation while building strong ties with partner nations.”

The SCO session in Tianjin has reinforced India’s position as a key player in regional security and economic collaboration. By stressing joint efforts in counter-terrorism, infrastructure development, and shared economic growth, India is working to ensure a safer and more connected region for all.
