Pema Dorjee Bhutia, renowned as the “Iron Man of Sikkim,” has brought immense pride to his home state by clinching two gold medals in the 95 kg Master Category at the 34th National Strength Lifting and Incline Bench Press Championship, held from January 1st to 5th, 2025, in Loharu, Haryana. His remarkable performance was further recognized when he was awarded the prestigious title of Best Referee of the Tournament, showcasing his dedication and expertise in the sport.
Bhutia hails from Sivik, Lingdok-Nampong GPU, under the 29th Kabilungchok Constituency. In addition to his competitive success, he serves as the Chief Coach of the Sikkim Strength Lifting Association, where he has been instrumental in nurturing and guiding athletes from Sikkim. Under his leadership, participants from the state delivered outstanding performances, winning several medals in both male and female categories.
