One-day awareness programme held at Chota Samdong School to educate students on career, cyber safety and land records

A special awareness programme was organised at Chota Samdong Senior Secondary School today by the Land Revenue and Disaster Management Department under the initiative of the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Soreng. The event was held under the "One-Day at School" programme, which aims to spread awareness among students about the roles and responsibilities of various government departments. The programme also helps students understand how different departments work and guides them in making the right career choices.
The programme began with a warm welcome from the school’s principal, who appreciated the team for organising such a useful and informative event for the students.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Soreng, Mr. Dhiraj Subedi, addressed the gathering. He explained that the purpose of the programme was to educate students about the departments and their functions in a simple way, directly from the people who work in those fields. He encouraged the students to take part actively and learn from the sessions. He also spoke about the importance of using screen time in a productive manner. He told the students that this kind of programme should inspire them to face challenges with confidence. He ended his speech by wishing the students all the best for their future.
The Additional District Collector (ADC-I) of Soreng, Mr. Daya Ram Bista, conducted a quiz session to keep the students engaged. Students who answered correctly were rewarded with prizes, which made the event fun and interesting. He also gave a short speech where he told the students to aim high in life and make smart career choices.

She told them that it is important to know their strengths and interests, and then decide what job or profession they want to go for. She shared examples of different career options that students can consider after class 10 and 12. She also talked about how to prepare for competitive exams like SPSC and UPSC. She advised the students to carefully plan their careers and invest time and effort into making the right decisions. She ended her talk by saying that choosing a career is a journey of self-discovery.
B.B. Rai, Revenue Officer from the District Department, gave a talk on land records. He explained how land is measured and how maps are prepared. He showed maps and said that every 1 cm on the map stands for 2 meters in actual distance. He advised students to ensure land is measured diagonally by trained surveyors to avoid mistakes. He also explained important terms like Khasra (plot number), Khatian (a record of plots), Parcha (official document), and Khazana (land tax paid to the government).
