Nothing comes for free, people are paying with their lives: Darjeeling MP takes a jibe at Mamata Banerjee

In a video shared by Bista, Mamata Banerjee can be seen saying, “How much now? I gave you Rs. 85,000 last time. Now you want Rs. 90,000? What do you want? Rs. 90,000? Rs. 95,000? Rs. 1,000,000? Okay, Rs. 1,10,000. Happy?”

“Nothing comes for free. The people of West Bengal are paying for it, with their lives. It’s high time all citizens woke up to the pathetic condition of the state under TMC,” said Darjeeling MP and BJP National Spokesperson Raju Bista taking a strong jibe at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

In a video shared by Bista, Mamata Banerjee can be seen saying, “How much now? I gave you Rs. 85,000 last time. Now you want Rs. 90,000? What do you want? Rs. 90,000? Rs. 95,000? Rs. 1,000,000? Okay, Rs. 1,10,000. Happy?”

Bista has repeatedly criticized Mamata Banerjee’s government for alleged corruption, mismanagement and neglect of North Bengal. In April 2024, he accused her of misleading the public on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and ignoring the development needs of the Gorkha community. In July 2024, he compared the TMC to the East India Company for corruption in welfare schemes, including MGNREGA, Swachh Bharat and housing projects.

In September 2024, following the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Bista demanded Banerjee’s resignation, calling her protest “laughable” and insincere. He also highlighted law and order failures, including a minor’s murder in South 24 Parganas and neglect of tea gardens, infrastructure, and flood-affected areas in Darjeeling, Terai and Dooars.

Earlier this month, on August 20, a shocking incident occurred at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) where a man posing as a doctor was arrested for cheating patients and their families by promising treatment and diagnostic services, including X-rays.
