The National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) team has successfully reached the top of Mt. Kangchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world and the tallest peak in India. This achievement was made on May 18, 2025, and it marks the final and biggest step of the ‘Har Shikhar Tiranga’ mission — a special journey to plant the Indian national flag on the highest peaks of all 28 states of India.
The expedition was led by Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal, a well-known and respected mountaineer. Under his leadership, the team managed something very rare this season — every climber who tried to reach the summit made it all the way up. This 100 percent success rate is especially impressive because Kangchenjunga is known to be one of the toughest mountains to climb. The weather is harsh, and many climbers fail to reach the top each year. But this NIMAS team’s success shows their hard work, careful planning, and strong will.
Colonel Jamwal said, “This was not just a climb. It was a way to honor every part of India. From the forests in the northeast to the cold heights of Kangchenjunga, our flag has now flown over the highest point in every state.” His words captured the pride and unity behind the mission, which brought together people from all corners of the country in a unique way.
The ‘Har Shikhar Tiranga’ mission was designed to celebrate India’s unity and national pride through the spirit of adventure. It began with smaller peaks and hills in different states and ended with this grand ascent of Kangchenjunga in Sikkim. The success of this mission not only highlights the skill and determination of the NIMAS team but also the growing importance of adventure sports in India.
