The National Building Construction Company (NBCC), a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Government of India, has shown keen interest in redeveloping bus ports at Gangtok and Namley. This initiative is expected to modernize transportation infrastructure, ensuring more convenient and efficient travel for the public.
During a visit on Wednesday evening, an NBCC team led by its Assistant General Manager (AGM) presented a detailed proposal outlining the redevelopment plans. Notably, the PSU has committed to executing these projects at its own cost, reflecting its dedication to enhancing public transport facilities and urban connectivity in Sikkim.
The proposed redevelopment is anticipated to bring state-of-the-art facilities to the bus ports, ensuring better passenger amenities and streamlined transport operations. The move has been welcomed by state authorities, who believe it will contribute significantly to infrastructure development and economic growth.
Expressing gratitude for NBCC’s initiative, officials extended their best wishes for the successful execution of the projects. The modernization of these bus ports is seen as a crucial step in strengthening Sikkim’s transport network, benefiting both residents and visitors alike.
