Namchi Police nab three drug peddlers, seize brown sugar and cash

The Namchi District Police arrested three drug peddlers following a tip-off from a reliable source. The operation was carried out by Namchi Police Station, which recovered a significant quantity of brown sugar, commonly known as heroin, along with Rs. 25,000 in cash believed to be from drug sales. The seizure took place at a rented room linked to the accused individuals identified as Dinesh Chettri, Leenamit Lepcha, and Raju Tamang.

The police acted on the information received and conducted a search of the premises. During the raid, the team found the illegal drugs carefully hidden, confirming suspicions about the involvement of the accused in drug trafficking. The cash recovered is said to be proceeds from recent sales.

Following the arrest and seizure, the police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Namchi Police Station. The case is now under detailed investigation to uncover the extent of the drug network and identify any other persons involved.
