Sikkim’s Member of Parliament (MP) Indra Hang Subba has urged the Ministry of Defence and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to reinforce critical road infrastructure in North Sikkim ahead of the monsoon season. During a meeting with Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth in New Delhi, MP Subba highlighted the urgent need for strengthening National Highway 310A and border roads to prevent disruptions caused by heavy rains and landslides.

While acknowledging the efforts of BRO in reopening roads following the devastating Teesta floods of October 2023, he expressed concerns that the upcoming monsoon could once again make these routes impassable. He stressed the importance of long-lasting reinforcements, including slope stabilization, improved drainage systems, and the use of stronger road materials, to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for civilians and security forces in the strategic region.

MP Subba reiterated his commitment to advocating for sustainable solutions that safeguard both public welfare and national security. He assured that he would continue working with the concerned authorities to improve road conditions in North Sikkim, ensuring better accessibility and resilience against natural calamities.
