Mother-son duo caught in drug bust in Mangan, 72 bottles of cough syrup seized

Police arrested a mother and her son from Chadey village for allegedly being involved in drug peddling in Mangan district. The arrest took place on Thursday, July 17, after the police conducted a planned search operation at their residence.

The team, led by Police Inspector Prashant Rai, who is also the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mangan Police Station, acted on credible information regarding the involvement of the suspects in the sale and distribution of banned cough syrup in the area.

During the search, the police recovered a total of 72 bottles of contraband cough syrup from the house. These bottles fall under the category of drugs considered harmful and illegal under the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA). The accused have been identified as Diki Lamu Tamang, aged 40, and her son Sudan Tamang, aged 24.

The entire search and seizure process was carried out strictly following the legal protocols. The presence of the Block Development Officer (BDO) and two respectable local witnesses ensured full transparency and fairness in the operation.
