Sikkim’s celebrated marathon runner, Shantiram Nepal, has reached Telangana after covering an astounding 3,500 km on foot across the Northeastern states. His journey is a tribute to Sikkim’s 50th Statehood year, carrying the powerful message of 'Sunaulo, Samriddha, Samarth Sikkim'—a vision of a golden, prosperous, and self-reliant state.
Despite facing health challenges and extreme weather conditions, Nepal’s determination remains unwavering as he continues towards southern India. His endurance and dedication have inspired many in Sikkim, motivating people to embrace fitness and long-distance running.
Alongside Nepal, notable athletes and fitness enthusiasts such as Amar Subba, Bharati Gurung, and Phurba Sherpa have been actively encouraging Sikkimese youth to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Their efforts align with the Fit India Movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which emphasizes the importance of physical well-being.
