Mani Das Rai appointed as OSD for Rai language department in Sikkim

The Sikkim Government has appointed Shri Mani Das Rai as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for the Rai Language Department, effective immediately. This appointment, made under the provisions of the Sikkim State Public Services Act, 2006, has been hailed as a significant step for the promotion and preservation of the Rai language and culture.
Rai, an esteemed member of the Rai community, will now serve in the Culture Department, with his protocol and facilities matching those of a Cabinet Minister. The government has also confirmed that the perks and benefits granted to him will align with the provisions of the Notification No. 56/Home/2024, dated July 23, 2024.
The Akhil Kirat Rai Sangh, a prominent community organization, expressed immense pride and joy in this historic appointment. A special gathering was organized at the Rai Khim Luma Organization's main office to celebrate the occasion, with members of the community showing their support and appreciation for the SKM government’s commitment to the Rai language.
In a statement, the Akhil Kirat Rai Sangh extended heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang for his leadership and dedication in ensuring that the Rai community's voice is heard. Despite numerous challenges, this appointment marks a significant milestone in the recognition and development of the Rai language, which holds immense cultural significance.
The Sangh also expressed hopes that Shri Mani Das Rai, in his new role, will contribute significantly to the growth and future progress of the Rai language and its cultural heritage.
