To mark the 50th year of Sikkim’s statehood, the Education Department of Mangan district has taken several steps to engage students in meaningful and educational activities. A short video message by David Gyamtso Lingdong, Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Mangan, has highlighted many of the key programs held as part of the golden jubilee celebrations.

Speaking in the video, CEO David said that the department has organised a wide range of events and programs across the district to honour the important milestone. “We are celebrating 50 years of Sikkim becoming a part of India. Our department has taken this occasion seriously and planned various activities for students,” he said.

Some of the major activities include the observance of Constitution Day, and participation in Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, a national-level program that promotes cultural understanding between different states. “We conducted district-level science exhibitions and quiz competitions to encourage scientific learning among students,” the CEO shared.

As part of the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA), selected students from the district were taken outside the state to visit science exhibitions and centres. “This helped them to see science and technology beyond textbooks,” David said, adding that such exposure plays an important role in shaping young minds.

Another important ongoing initiative is the cleanliness drive, which the Education Department has been actively conducting in schools and nearby areas. “We are doing this beautifully,” said the CEO. “The response from students and teachers has been very good, and it also teaches children about hygiene and community responsibility.”

David also proudly mentioned that a student from Mangan district has excelled in the HCM Residential Coaching Camp and will now represent the district at the prestigious Scindia School in Gwalior. “This is a proud moment for us,” he said.

He further noted the success of the HCM Mentorship Program, which was held during the winter break. Under this program, selected students received guidance and support from mentors to improve their learning. “Our students have done fairly well this time because of the CM Mentorship,” David said.

Apart from these programs, district-level student interactions and outreach activities were also conducted to make the 50 years of statehood celebration more inclusive and memorable.

David Gyamtso Lingdong expressed gratitude and wished everyone a happy 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood. “Thank you very much. Happy 50 years of statehood,” he said.
