Mangan celebrates 10 years of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao on International Women’s Day

Mangan District marked a significant milestone on International Women’s Day 2025, celebrating a decade of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative. The grand event was held under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and organized by the Women, Child, Senior Citizen & Divyangjan Welfare Department, Mangan District.

Minister for Social Welfare and Area MLA of 31-Lachen Mangan Constituency, Samdup Lepcha, graced the occasion alongside other esteemed dignitaries. Among those present were District Magistrate Anant Jaint, Adakshya North District Shri Kado Lepcha, Former Chairman Nim Tshering Lepcha, and representatives from various local bodies, including CDPOs, Panchayat Presidents and municipal councillors.

The program served as a platform to reflect on the achievements of the BBBP initiative over the past ten years, emphasizing the government’s commitment to empowering the girl child. A special felicitation ceremony was held to honour women achievers from different fields, recognizing their contributions to society. The awards were accompanied by a traditional cultural dance performance, adding a festive touch to the celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, Samdup Lepcha reiterated the government’s dedication to promoting education and equal opportunities for girls. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the global shift towards Women-Led Development.
