West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the Border Security Force (BSF) of facilitating infiltration from Bangladesh to destabilize the state. Speaking at an administrative meeting, Banerjee alleged that the Centre was executing a "nefarious blueprint" to disrupt Bengal's peace ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
"The BSF is allowing infiltration and torturing women. The TMC does not control the borders; it is the BSF’s responsibility. If anyone accuses us, they must look at the central forces," she asserted.
Banerjee stated that she would instruct the Director General of Police to investigate the infiltration routes and write to the Centre seeking action. She also emphasized her commitment to maintaining peace in Bengal and Bangladesh, warning against any attempts to fuel terror activities.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh dismissed Banerjee's claims, accusing her of turning Bengal into a "gateway for Bangladeshi infiltration" for political gain. He alleged that the state had become a hub for illegal migrants, while atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh remained unaddressed.
