Makar Sankranti 2025: Registration opens for rural sports events
These events will be held on January 20, 2025, at the Jorethang Football Stadium.

The Sports & Youth Affairs Department of the Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Maghe-Mela Sports Committee, has announced the opening of registrations for three major sporting events as part of the Rural Sports-II initiative for the Makar Sankranti celebrations. These events will be held on January 20, 2025, at the Jorethang Football Stadium.

Route: Jorethang to Birdang and back

1st Prize: ₹50,000
2nd Prize: ₹30,000
3rd Prize: ₹20,000
Consolation: ₹10,000 for top 10 positions
Chief Minister’s One Mile Run
Category: Boys and Girls (12–15 years)
Start Point: Akar Bridge Mandir
Finish Point: Jorethang Football Stadium

Walkathon (3 km)
