The 3rd State Ranking Junior U-19 & 1st Majhitar Open Badminton Championship 2025 commenced today at the ATTC Auditorium, Bardang, with an enthusiastic gathering of players, officials, and dignitaries. Organized by the Badminton Club of Majhitar under the aegis of the Badminton Association of Sikkim, the tournament aims to nurture young badminton talent and promote the sport at the grassroots level.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri G.M. Gurung, a respected social worker from Rangpo, as the Chief Guest, who officially declared the championship open. Also present were Shri Ganesh Sharma and Shri Neeraj Khatiwara, Station Head Officer of Rangpo Police Station, as Guests of Honour. Smt. Kusum Tamang, President of West Pendam GPU, attended as a Special Guest.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions to society, social workers Shri K.R. Bhupen from Majhitar, Pakyong District, and Shri Saran Pradhan from Mamring, Namchi District, were felicitated during the event. Their efforts in community development were applauded by attendees.
