A comprehensive organic farming initiative was recently launched at Luing Perbing Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) under Ranka Block Administrative Centre (BAC). The initiative aligns with the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, who has consistently advocated for organic farming as the backbone of the state's sustainable development model.

The campaign aims to promote organic farming not only as an eco-friendly agricultural practice but also as a reliable source of livelihood for local communities. It also seeks to ensure that arable land in the region is effectively cultivated rather than being left fallow. The initiative witnessed the active participation of all Ward Panchayats, GPU staff, and officials from the Agriculture Department, marking a collaborative effort to further strengthen Sikkim’s identity as a fully organic state.

A highlight of the event was the presence of Hon’ble MLA Kala Rai, whose encouragement and grassroots engagement added significant momentum to the programme. Her address to the gathering underscored the importance of self-sufficiency, local food production, and environmental stewardship. "Our land is our strength, and with collective effort, we can make organic farming a pillar of prosperity for every household," said Mrs. Rai, drawing applause from attendees.

The Agriculture Department provided technical guidance and support to farmers, many of whom expressed renewed confidence in organic practices. Demonstrations on composting, organic pest control, and soil fertility management were also held as part of the programme.
