Lt Gen Minwalla meets Nepali Army Chief to strengthen military ties

Lieutenant General Zubin A. Minwalla, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 33 Corps, met with General Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Nepali Army, at the Nepali Army Headquarters in Kathmandu. General Minwalla, who is also the Colonel of the Regiment of the 9th Gorkha Rifles (GR), discussed measures to enhance the long-standing military relations between India and Nepal.
The meeting between the two senior military leaders focused on strengthening regional security and boosting military cooperation. General Minwalla and General Sigdel explored avenues to further the army-to-army connection between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
During his visit, Lt Gen Minwalla also interacted with Major General Pawan Raj Ghimire, the GOC of the Nepali Army’s Eastern Division, to discuss operational strategies and coordination between the forces. A key highlight of the visit was Lt Gen Minwalla's visit to the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Branch and the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic in Kathmandu. This visit underscored India's commitment to the welfare of Nepal's ex-servicemen, with Lt Gen Minwalla reaffirming the importance of providing comprehensive healthcare and welfare services to those who have served in the armed forces.
"The welfare of ex-servicemen is a priority, and we are committed to ensuring they receive the support they deserve," Lt Gen Minwalla said during his interaction with ex-servicemen at the ECHS Polyclinic. He stated the need for continued efforts to expand the reach of the Defense Wing in Nepal, ensuring meaningful initiatives for the healthcare and well-being of ex-servicemen.
