India’s pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah achieved a historic milestone on Day 4 of the fourth Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Bumrah became the first bowler in the history of Test cricket to claim 200 wickets while maintaining an extraordinary average of under 20.

The star pacer dismissed Australia’s Travis Head in the post-lunch session to reach the landmark, marking his 200th Test wicket in just his 44th match. Bumrah shares the record as the second-fastest Indian to this feat alongside Ravindra Jadeja. Ravichandran Ashwin remains the quickest Indian, having achieved it in 37 Tests.

Bumrah’s current Test average of 19.5 surpasses legendary bowlers like Malcolm Marshall (20.9), Joel Garner (21.0), and Curtly Ambrose (21.0), solidifying his place among the game’s all-time greats.

The achievement also saw Bumrah extend his dominance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he leads the wickets tally with 28 scalps. After dismissing Travis Head, he went on to claim Mitchell Marsh and Sam Konstas, further boosting India’s chances in the match.
