ITS holds coordination meeting in Soreng to boost development projects
The meeting brought together ITS members, district officials, and heads of various departments to review ongoing initiatives and strengthen coordination for effective implementation of development projects.

The Institute for Transforming Sikkim (ITS) convened a key coordination meeting for Soreng district today at the Rurban Complex, under the chairmanship of its Vice Chairman Mr. CP Sharma. The meeting brought together ITS members, district officials, and heads of various departments to review ongoing initiatives and strengthen coordination for effective implementation of development projects.
Present at the meeting were ITS members Mrs. Ganga Devi Pradhan, Ms. Namrata Thapa, Dr. Sangay Dorjee Bhutia, Dr. Bharat Chandra Basistha, Mr. James Saring Lepcha, and Dr. Neeraj Adhikari. The session was also attended by Zilla Adhyaksha Mrs. Tila Devi Gurung, District Collector Mr. Dhiraj Subedi, SP Mr. Nahkul Pradhan, ADC-I Mr. DR Bista, ADC-II Mr. Santosh Kumar Allay, ADC (Development) Mr. Gaayas Pega, along with SDMs, BDOs, HODs, and officials from various line departments.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chairman Mr. CP Sharma highlighted the vision behind the formation of ITS, emphasizing its commitment to need-based development and community participation. He called for greater sincerity and seriousness in the implementation of projects, particularly those critical to public welfare, and urged departments to address delays in ongoing initiatives.
Ms. Namrata Thapa provided an overview of ITS’s mandate and objectives, while Mrs. Ganga Devi Pradhan highlighted key challenges, including solid waste management, biomedical waste disposal, Public Health Engineering (PHE) systems, human capital development, and liquid waste management. Mr. Roshan Sharma from the Planning and Development Department briefed attendees on ITS’s 16 verticals and sectors.
The meeting included an open house discussion, allowing department heads to provide updates on infrastructure and sustainable development projects. ITS emphasized the importance of completing ongoing projects, fully utilising government assets, and promptly resolving issues hindering progress. ADC-I Mr. DR Bista also provided updates on key district-level initiatives being carried out by the administration.
