Member of Parliament from Darjeeling and BJP National Spokesperson Raju Bista addressed the Indo-Nepal Trade Fair and Exhibition on Sunday, part of the ongoing Nepal Festival Delhi 2025. The event was jointly organised by the Everest Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Nepal.
The event witnessed the presence of Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dr. Shankar P. Sharma, along with other dignitaries. In his address, Bista underscored the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and economic ties between India and Nepal. “From Bhagwan Buddha to Mata Sita, our shared heritage binds us in a bond like no other,” he said, while extending greetings from the people of Darjeeling hills, Terai, Dooars and the rest of India.
Speaking on the economic partnership, Bista noted that India remains Nepal’s largest trading partner, accounting for nearly 65% of Nepal’s total trade, with exports nearing the US$1 billion mark.
He also pointed to new areas of cooperation including tourism, healthcare, infrastructure, and hydro-development. “Indo-Nepal ties will be the defining relationship of the 21st century in South Asia,” Bista added, congratulating the organisers for facilitating such a platform for bilateral engagement.
