The Government of India has declared a seven-day state mourning following the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at AIIMS Hospital, New Delhi. The mourning period, effective from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025, is a mark of respect for the iconic leader's immense contributions to the nation.

During this period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast across the country and at Indian missions abroad. Additionally, no official entertainment will be held, reflecting the nation's solemnity in honoring Dr. Singh's memory. The government has also announced that Dr. Singh will receive a state funeral, recognizing his pivotal role in shaping India’s economic reforms and development during his tenure as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014.
