The fourth and final leg of Sikkim’s much-celebrated "Mountain Rush" Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) Car Rally roared into life from Soreng this morning, setting the stage for an exhilarating finish to the state's premier motorsport event. As engines revved and tyres screeched, participants embarked on the decisive journey toward Gangtok, weaving their way through the vibrant town of Namchi along a route that promised both beauty and intense challenges.
Dubbed "The Decider," the fourth leg demanded the very best from each rally crew. The carefully designed course tested their abilities to the fullest, with a dynamic mix of rolling hills, smooth tarmac stretches, and bustling semi-urban zones. Unlike the earlier legs that focused largely on endurance over rugged terrain, today’s phase required an exceptional blend of precision, split-second timing, and unwavering coordination between drivers and navigators.
In true TSD rally tradition, competitors were tasked with maintaining strict average speeds, accurately hitting every Time Control (TC) checkpoint, and mastering regularity sections without faltering. Every second counted, and a single miscalculation could cost valuable penalty points on the scorecards. Open traffic conditions and varying road surfaces further heightened the difficulty, leaving no room for error.
The ceremonial flag-off at Soreng witnessed a spirited gathering of local dignitaries, motorsport enthusiasts, and residents who turned out in large numbers to support the competitors. Cheers and applause filled the crisp morning air as vehicles lined up at the starting point, engines growling in anticipation.
