An elderly couple was brutally assaulted by their own grandson in Yangang town, South Sikkim. The violent attack, which has left the local community in shock, took place inside the couple’s residence and involved the use of a khukuri, a traditional Nepali curved knife.

The assault occurred late in the evening when neighbors reported hearing blood-curdling screams coming from the home. Alarmed by the sounds, nearby residents quickly alerted the police. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the elderly couple lying in a pool of blood with grievous injuries, both having suffered multiple deep wounds.

The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital and are currently receiving critical medical care. Their condition remains serious, and doctors are closely monitoring their recovery.

The accused grandson, whose name is being withheld pending further investigation, was arrested at the scene without resistance and remains in police custody. He is the prime suspect in what authorities are calling a case of “extreme domestic violence.”

According to preliminary findings, family tensions and unresolved disputes may have triggered the attack, although police have not ruled out other possible motives. A senior investigating officer stated, “This is a deeply tragic case. We are speaking with relatives, neighbors, and the accused to understand what led to such a horrific act.”
