Gangtok DC reviews progress of Van Dhan Vikas Yojana and PACS at DCDC meeting

Gangtok District Collector Tushar Nikhare chaired the 3rd District Cooperative Committee (DCDC) Meeting at the District Administrative Centre (DAC) today, reviewing the implementation of the Van Dhan Vikas Yojana (VDVY) and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Collector Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia, SDM (HQ) G.L. Meena, Additional Registrar for Cooperative Societies Bijay Subba, Zilla Panchayat CEO Sonam Gyatso Bhutia, and officers from various line departments.
Discussions focused on enhancing packaging, branding, and demand-supply chains for products from Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs). The DC emphasized sharing success stories among VDVKs, PACS, and Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (MPCS) to promote best practices. He also stressed integrating Central and State Government schemes for financial and infrastructural support.
Key deliberations included identifying local products for bulk production to tap into the growing e-commerce market while ensuring consistent quality and supply. The DC also highlighted the multifunctional role of PACS as Common Service Centers (CSCs) and recommended collaboration with Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs) to improve service delivery. Training will be provided by DAC to PACS for implementing DAC-related public services.
