Five killed in road accident in West Sikkim

In a road accident on Thursday night, five individuals from the Yuksom Tashiding constituency lost their lives when their vehicle plunged into Lang Khola, along the Gerethang-Tashiding road in Geyzing District, West Sikkim.
The incident occurred around 9:30 PM, just 500 meters from a wedding venue the group was returning from. According to Superintendent of Police Tshering Sherpa, the driver appears to have failed to navigate a turn, causing the private vehicle to fall approximately 300 feet into the gorge at Lang Khola in Gerethang village. "The driver may not have paid attention to the turn," stated Sherpa.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, with Sikkim Police probing the possibility of drunk driving. Autopsies are being conducted at Geyzing District Hospital to determine any contributing factors.
The deceased have been identified as Abhirman Dahal (51), Abhi Kishore Dahal (51), Chandra Bahadur Mangar (40), Karna Bahadur Gurung (38) from Nessa Tashiding village and Jeewan Karki (38) from Yangtey village. The vehicle involved in the accident reportedly belonged to one of the victims.
