Five-day language teachers training for four languages - Rai, Tamang, Sherpa and Gurung

Gangtok, Sept 22:

The Education Department, Government of Sikkim organised a five-day language teachers training for four languages - Rai, Tamang, Sherpa and Gurung from 16th to 20th September, 2023 at Limboo Bhawan in Gangtok.

The training which was fully funded by Sikkim Akademi was held at Makhim (Bhutia House) for Rai and Gurung teachers, at Tamang Bhawan in Syari for Tamang teachers and at Limboo Bhawan in DPH for Sherpa teachers, and had the participation of over 134 language teachers.

The opening day of the training was attended by Director, Secondary Education, Shri K.C. Gyatsho Bhutia, as the chief guest along with President, Sikkim Akademi, SS.R. Khajum, Director, Exam/Scholarship/PM Posan, Sonam Denzongpa, as special guests.

The programme was also attended by Director, Language section, Shri Sonam Lepcha, and other officials.

Ms. Larisha Lepcha and Dr. Rabin Sharma were present as experts at Makhim (Bhutia Bhawan).

The closing day of the training was graced by Education Minister, Shri K.N. Lepcha, as the chief guest. Present on the occasion were Secretary, Education Department, Smt. Sumita Pradhan, President, Sikkim Akademi, Shri S.R. Khajum, Director, Secondary Education, Shri K.C. Gyatsho Bhutia, and other dignitaries.
