Drone flying banned across Sikkim ahead of Prime Minister Modi's visit

In preparation for the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of India to Sikkim, the state government has announced a complete ban on the flying of drones across the entire state. The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation issued a notification on Wednesday stating that the restriction will be in place from May 27 to May 29, 2025.

The order has been passed citing security reasons. The government has clearly stated that no individual, organisation, or tourist will be allowed to operate drones during this period.

According to the order, “All concerned are requested to comply with this direction. If any violation is found, action will be initiated as per the existing provisions of the government.”

The Tourism Department has circulated the memo to all key officials, including the Director to the Minister, the PS to the Advisor and other relevant department heads.
