The Excise Department of the Government of Sikkim has officially announced a total of 34 dry days for the year 2025. These include New Moon Days (Amavasya), Full Moon Days (Purnima), and several national and religious holidays, emphasizing the state’s cultural and traditional values.
Full Moon Days will be observed on key dates such as January 13, May 12, and December 4, while New Moon Days fall on dates like February 28, June 25, and November 19. These significant lunar days hold deep cultural importance in Sikkim’s religious customs prompting the ban on alcohol sales.
Additionally, ten special occasions have also been declared as dry days. These include Republic Day on January 26, Independence Day on August 15, and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. Religious holidays such as Good Friday on April 18 and Saga Dawa on June 11 are also part of the list.
