The Denzong Sherpa Association has extended warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) and the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) Government ahead of the upcoming “Ama Samman Diwas” on August 10, 2025. This special day is set to celebrate and honor the invaluable role of mothers across Sikkim.
The Association praised the SKM Government for launching this meaningful initiative that goes beyond economic support to restore dignity and respect to mothers, who are the pillars of families and communities. As part of the celebration, around 32,000 mothers will receive Rs. 20,000 every six months under the “Ama Yojana,” totaling Rs. 40,000 annually. Eligible mothers will also benefit from four free LPG cylinder refills every year.
This scheme is expected to significantly uplift the socio-economic condition of women, especially in rural and underprivileged areas. It empowers mothers to handle urgent expenses, support their children’s education and health, and gain greater independence in household decisions.
More than just financial help, “Ama Samman Diwas” symbolizes a societal change where respect and care for mothers take center stage. The Denzong Sherpa Association, led by President Sangay Sherpa, voiced strong support for the celebration and the scheme’s effective implementation. They believe such policies will help build a “Sunwalo, Samriddha ani Samarth Sikkim,” where every mother is respected, empowered, and celebrated.
