A large crowd gathered in Kurseong town today to take part in the Tiranga Yatra. The event was led by Raju Bista, Member of Parliament from Darjeeling and National Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with local citizens and supporters from across the Kurseong region.
The Tiranga Yatra, being conducted in many parts of the country, is a patriotic march where people carry the national flag to express gratitude to the armed forces. This particular Yatra also marked the recent success of Operation Sindoor, a military response that was launched after a shocking terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 Hindu tourists.
Speaking at the event, MP Raju Bista said, “The Tiranga Yatra is a way for every Indian to show respect to the Army, Navy, Air Force, and central forces like BSF and SSB. We are here today because of the strength and sacrifice of our soldiers who protect our borders day and night.”
Operation Sindoor was carried out by the Indian Armed Forces in retaliation to the Pahalgam killings. It involved well-planned strikes across the border, leading to the elimination of more than 100 terrorists and the destruction of multiple terror camps. According to officials, the operation targeted known terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen, whose bases had long posed a danger to India’s national security.
The MP praised the armed forces for their bravery and also credited the government’s strong defence policy. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has shown it will not tolerate terrorism. From Myanmar to Uri, Balakot, and Pulwama, and now Pahalgam, we have responded with strength. Operation Sindoor is proof that India will act firmly and decisively to protect its citizens,” Bista said.
Bista said , “I want to thank Prime Minister Modi ji, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh ji, and Home Minister Amit Shah ji. Their decisions and support for the armed forces have ensured that India remains strong and secure,”.
