Darjeeling Member of Parliament Raju Bista on Tuesday joined leaders from across the country in extending his greetings to C P Radhakrishnan, who has been elected as the new Vice-President of India. In a statement issued through his office, Bista conveyed his “heartiest congratulations” and praised Radhakrishnan for his long career in public life and his unwavering commitment to the nation.
Bista described Radhakrishnan as a “true grassroots social change maker” who has earned the respect of people for his honesty and knowledge of governance. He recalled that Radhakrishnan, originally from Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu, has served the country in several important roles. Radhakrishnan was elected twice as a Member of Parliament from Coimbatore and later served as Governor of Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Telangana, and as the Lt. Governor of Puducherry.
For Bista, this vast and varied experience has given Radhakrishnan a deep understanding of the challenges of governance and public administration. “With decades of service to the people, he is well positioned to take the office of Vice-President to greater heights with wisdom and vision,” Bista said.
Bista, who is also a national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the election of Radhakrishnan brings new hope for strengthening democratic institutions in the country. He expressed confidence that the Vice-President-elect would uphold the dignity of the office while working for the welfare of all citizens.
“I join the nation in congratulating H.E. Shri C P Radhakrishnan ji on being elected the Vice-President of India. We wish him every success,” Bista said in his message.
