Member of Parliament from Darjeeling and BJP’s National Spokesperson, Raju Bista visited the Samye Choiling Gumba in Kalamjot, Kadamtala, on Sunday to attend the ongoing 'Vishwa Shanti Puja'. The prayer event is being held as part of the 2569th Buddha Jayanti celebrations, organized by the Kadamtala Buddha Jayanti Samaroh Samiti.

The puja, which is spread over three days, has attracted people from different parts of the region. Devotees, monks and spiritual leaders have gathered to offer prayers and remember the life and teachings of Lord Buddha.

Bista was welcomed by the organizers and joined the prayer in the presence of respected monks Guruji Sangey Sherpa ji and Guruji Norbu Lama ji. During his visit, Bista shared his thoughts on the importance of peace, compassion, and wisdom in today’s world. He said that Lord Buddha's teachings have become even more meaningful in recent times, especially with so many conflicts and unrest happening around the world.

“Today, as I sat in the peaceful surroundings of Samye Choiling Gumba, I felt a deep sense of calm. Listening to the chants and seeing people come together to pray for peace gave me hope. The message of Lord Buddha is simple, yet powerful. It reminds us to be kind, to care for others, and to live with understanding,” Bista said.

He also thanked the Kadamtala Buddha Jayanti Samaroh Samiti for organizing the event and keeping alive the spirit of Buddha Jayanti in such a meaningful way. He said that their hard work in bringing the community together for this puja was truly commendable.

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Samiti for organizing this World Peace Puja. At a time when the world needs more love and less hate, such events give us the strength to walk the path of peace. I pray that Lord Buddha's teachings continue to show us the way,” he added.

The three-day puja includes special prayers, chanting, and discussions about Lord Buddha’s life.
